While plastic surgery isn't my thing, it's is becoming more common, even in regional Australia where local beauticians now regularly fly in cosmetic surgery experts. But what has caught my attention today is the latest trend in surgery shaming, with a Sydney surgeon last wee producing a list of what he thought was Australia's 10 Most Botoxed Celebrities.
For starters, who cares? I guess that's the part - people buy the magazines with these headlines. Secondly, why does he think he has the right to name these people with the intent to shame them. Charlotte Dawson and Megan Gale made the list and both came out in defence of never having had any surgery. Gale was indignant that he would make such claims without any evidence and both criticised him for what they described as a bullying campaign.

Confer - to have discussions or exchange opinions. That's what we are supposed to do at conferences, but I often find there's lots of listening and endless small talk over cups of tea. You can end up suffering from "death by Powerpoint" or simply exhausted from making conversation with strangers.
I did all of the above in a week of professional development last week. For all the expense, a couple of morning runs through the Domain and around Sydney Harbour were probably the highlight, as well as the chance to catch up with a couple of girlfriends. There were some enlightening speakers on the conference program and a 90-minute personal mentoring session was extremely beneficial. But the whole process was mentally draining and, after staying in four difference places and sleeping in four different beds over four nights, I was keen to return home and sleep soundly.
